Annalise Blum

Dr. Annalise Blum (@annaliseblum) is a hydrologist and environmental engineer who specializes in national and environmental security policy.  As an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science & Technology Policy Fellow, Annalise supports Stability and Humanitarian Affairs in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. She is also a Lecturer in Environmental Sciences and Policy at Johns Hopkins University and a Brimley Next Generation National Security Fellow at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS).

Over the last decade, Annalise has led multi-disciplinary research on water security, extreme events, and environmental change in the United States, East Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia. Previously, she worked at the National Academy of Sciences, the American Meteorological Society, the US Geological Survey, and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Annalise has a Ph.D. in environmental and water resources engineering from Tufts University, M.S. in environmental sciences and engineering from UNC-Chapel Hill, and a B.S. in environmental engineering from Stanford University.
