Fridrik Jonsson (@FridrikJonsson) is the President of the Icelandic Confederation of University Graduates. A 25-year veteran of the Icelandic Foreign Service, he previously served as Senior Arctic Official (2019-2021), Director General for GRÓ, Centre for Capacity Development, Sustainability and Societal Change (2020-2021), Iceland’s Representative to NATO’s Military Committee, concurrently at the Echelon of National Military Representatives at SHAPE (2014-2019), and as an Advisor to the Executive Director for the Nordic and Baltic Countries on the Board of the World Bank in Washington DC (2011-2014). In 2009 and 2010, he served 18-months in Afghanistan, first with ISAF and then UNAMA.

Starting his Foreign Service carrier in 1996, he has served in the Ministry’s Political, Defense, Trade and Development Directorates, as well as embassies in Washington DC and Copenhagen. He holds an MA in International Relations and Strategic Studies, an MBA in International Business and a BA in International Relations and Diplomacy. He is also on LinkedIn.
